From there you can see the classic Pehuenche landscapes, which are moving with a superb mountain range, gentle hills covered by crops, volcanic craters, and dense forests, under a perfect sky when the sun does its thing. Safety is also a very relevant issue in this great excursion since it is carried out only by expert guides and complete equipment. The excursion takes more or less 9 hours since the ascent to the summit is carried out very gently and is not an activity for experts but for visitors who have minimal physical capabilities and want to comment on the experience of having visited the summit of one of the most important active volcanoes in the world. Huerquehue is characterized by its network of trails that have made it one of the favorite parks for nature and trekking lovers. It has countless trailsand has an environment mostly located in the Andean-Patagonian Forest Region and within the Araucanía Mountain Range. The largest volume watercourses in the park are: the Renahue Blanco River, Quinchol. In addition, there are several minor slopes, of permanent cause. The presence of 20 lagoons stands out, with the majority having a surface area of less than 7.5 ha, the most important being: lakes Toro (27.5 ha) and Verde (32.5 ha) and the lagoons: Chica, Los Patos, Huerquehue, Escondida, Seca, Clara, the Great Bustards, Angelina, the Condors, among others. Such courses and bodies of water belong to the Toltén River Hydrographic Basin. The Araucaria is a common species in Huerquehue Park, which has great ethnobotanical importance. The distribution territory of this species coincides with the distribution of the Pehuenche people, who have historically used the pine nut (Araucaria seed) as a food source. In Huerquehue, some vestiges have been found, such as ceramic remains, rocky eaves for protection, which indicates that there was sometimes some degree of human occupation there.
