DAY 1 BASEL

Arrival in Basel. This is the city of culture, tradition‐conscious and open minded at the same time. Immerse yourself immediately into local life off the beaten tracks and get to know “iconic Basel”. On a self‐guided walking tour, you will join in Basel’s love affair with food. Starting at its oldest bakery you will visit five venues, each with different food concepts revealing Basel’s multicultural soul.

In the afternoon, discover more of Switzerland’s oldest university city as you stroll around Basel’s romantic old town with its narrow streets, hidden squares, more than 180 fountains and its well‐preserved old buildings. From nearby Schifflande pier, river boats depart for a 3‐Country cruises (50% discount with BaselCard). Alternatively, cross famous Mittlere Brucke and discover the Kleinbasel side of the Rhine.

DAY 2 BASEL

Breakfast at the hotel. Want to learn where locals prefer to shop? Whether you are looking for delicacies from a local market, want to discover little independent shops for artisan jewellery or handicraft or are looking for the major department stores, your guide will tailor‐make your shopping spree according to your wishes. Afterwards, take a break and relax at Restaurant Atelier with a 2 for 1 voucher for the main course.

Not without reason, Basel is known as Switzerland’s culture capital. Art can be seen wherever you go. After lunch, view the amazing collection of works from classical to modernism or one of the sensational exhibitions at Fondation Beyeler. Visit Kunstmuseum Basel, which is the oldest publicly accessible art collection in the world. Museum Tinguely houses the greatest collection of the most important Swiss artist of the 20th century.
