1

DAY 1 SARRIA

Arrival in Sarria. This lively town is one of the most popular starting points of the Camino de Santiago. Pilgrims choose Sarria because, according to the Church, walking the French Way from here to Santiago (over 100 km) grants the official pilgrimage accreditation, La Compostela. Stroll through the historic quarter where remnants of medieval walls, churches such as Santa Mariña, and the Monastery of La Magdalena remind you of its rich past.

Accommodation : Sarria for 1 night

2

DAY 2 SARRIA – PORTOMARÍN (22 KM)

The first ascent of the Camino will lead you through tiny hamlets connected by stone “corredoiras” (traditional sunken lanes shaded by trees). After the descent to the Miño River, cross the imposing modern bridge to reach Portomarín. This picturesque village was entirely relocated stone by stone to higher ground when the Belesar Reservoir was built in the 1960s. The Church of San Nicolás, resembling a fortress, stands as the town’s landmark.

Meals : Breakfast

Accommodation : Portomarín for 1 night

3

DAY 3 PORTOMARIN – PALAS DE REY (24 KM)

Today’s steady ascent will bring you to Ventas de Narón and the gentle Ligonde Hills, a resting point for pilgrims since medieval times. You will pass charming stone-built villages such as Ligonde, Lestedo, and Eirexe, each with chapels and crosses that whisper stories of centuries past. The day ends at Palas de Rei, once an important seat for Galician nobility and today a welcoming stopover for pilgrims.

Meals : Breakfast

Accommodation : Palas de Rei for 1 night

DAY 4 PALAS DE REI – ARZÚA (29 KM)

This long but rewarding stage leads you first to Melide, famous as the octopus capital of Galicia. Don’t miss trying “pulpo a la gallega” in a local tavern. Crossing medieval bridges and quiet country paths, continue towards Ribadiso, a magical riverside hamlet with one of the oldest pilgrim hospitals on the Camino. Your final descent takes you to Arzúa, known for its centuries-old cheese-making tradition and its designation-protected Arzúa-Ulloa cheese.

Meals : Breakfast

Accommodation : Arzúa for 1 night

5

DAY 5 ARZÚA – RÚA (19 KM)

Before setting off, taste Arzúa-Ulloa Cheese, the pride of the region. This stage takes you through peaceful oak groves, fields, and eucalyptus forests, filling the air with fresh, aromatic scents. Along the way, pause at the 18th century Chapel of Santa Irene, dedicated to a Portuguese martyr. Descend to the welcoming hamlet of Rúa, a traditional resting place for pilgrims just before the final push to Santiago.

Meals : Breakfast

Accommodation : Rúa for 1 night

6

DAY 6 RÚA – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA (21 KM)

Pass through the villages of Pedrouzo and Amenal before reaching Lavacolla, where pilgrims once washed before entering Santiago. Your last climb takes you to Monte do Gozo (Hill of Joy), where the spires of the Cathedral of Santiago finally appear on the horizon - a thrilling and emotional moment for every pilgrim. Walk the final kilometers into Santiago de Compostela, where the magnificent cathedral awaits, housing the relics of St. James the Apostle.

DAY 7 SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

Today is yours to explore the UNESCO-listed Old Town of Santiago.
