Pousada Sagres from 14 to 17 April 2022, 09 to 11 June 2022, 15 to 18 June 2022 and from 09 July to 11 Sept 2022 – it is mandatory a minimum stay of 3 nights if including a Saturday night.
Pousada Castelo de Palmela from 27 Feb to 05 March 2022, 14 to 17 April 2022, 09 to 11 June 2022, 15 to 18 June 2022, 04 to 05 Oct 2022 and from 30 July to 27 Aug 2022 – it is mandatory a minimum stay of 2 nights if including a Saturday night.

DAY 1 & 2 LISBON

Upon arrival pick up your car from Budget by Avis car-hire desk at Lisbon Airport. Drive downtown historic Lisbon where you will stay at the boutique deluxe Pousada de Lisboa for 2 nights. Lisbon is a must to visit with its World Heritage monuments and medieval quarters. We suggest a walk through the narrow streets of the old district of Alfama coming downtown (Baixa) along the most important squares of Lisbon to feel the atmosphere of this “old” historical town. We also recommend a visit to Belém quarter. Admire the Tower of Belem and Jerónimos Monastery. On one of the evening enjoy a unique experience in a local Fado restaurant in Lisbon (dinner with drinks included). While in Lisbon don’t lose the chance of visiting romantic Sintra area with its unique palaces such as the Pena palace. This castle represents 19th century romanticism and sits on top of Sintra’s hill with a beautiful view. On the way back to Lisbon stop by Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe and by its seaside coast, Estoril and Cascais (the Portuguese Riviera).

3 - 4

DAY 3 & 4 LISBON - SAGRES (approx. 325km)

Driving South through the Coast, you will get to the Village of Sagres overlooking the deep Atlantic Ocean. Sagres has an important historical and maritime significance. 500 years ago, Prince D. Henrique’s caravels left to discover news countries from there. You will stay 2 nights in Pousada do Infante in Sagres and learn more about Portugal discoveries. While you are staying in Algarve you will visit wine producer and cellar, “Quinta dos Vales” in Estombar (77 km from Sagres). Your visit will include the tasting of 3 different wines. Between Sagres and Quinta dos Vales winery we recommend these visits: Monchique – a SPA town with Roman origins; Silves – an extremely old town that was the capital of the Algarve for many centuries; Lagos – a town with a well preserved heritage.

DAY 5 & 6 SAGRES - ÉVORA (approx. 300km)

Driving north to the centre of Alentejo region, known for its wide open spaces and its extensive farms you will find Évora. Évora is a museum town retaining much of its medieval and Moorish charm (Unesco World Heritage). The must-see sights are the Giraldo square, the Roman Temple, the 12th century Cathedral and the São Francisco Church which is one of the most important Gothic Manueline monuments of the region. It also houses the famous Chapel of the Bones. In Reguengos de Monsaraz (44 km) you will have a wine and gastronomy experience visiting the “Herdade do Esporão” wine cellar and vineyard. Your visit will include the tasting of 2 wines and a degustation lunch in at their restaurant (drinks not included). A perfect occasion to taste the delicious Alentejo cuisine. On your way to Évora visit: Alvito – with its 15th century Manueline castle. Other recommended visits: Monsaraz – the fortified town, one of the most typical medieval towns in the Alentejo, totally surrounded bywalls. Vila Viçosa – with a magnificent Ducal Palace, this served as a summer residence for the last kings of Portugal. Estremoz – the medieval Estremoz surrounded by 17th century fortifications.

DAY 7 ÉVORA - PALMELA (approx. 97km)

Drive to the Blue Coast located on the South bank of the river Tagus towards Palmela to overnight in a medieval castle converted in a Pousada, Pousada of Palmela. Its hilltop setting offers breathtaking panoramic views of the magnificent Natural Park of Arrabida and the river Sado’s course as it flows to find the Atlantic. Visit Palmela’s historic centre. Start your tour at S. Pedro church with its beautiful Baroque tiles covering the walls and continue to explore the rest of the city. Nearby Setúbal, with its elegant pedestrian streets and gardens could also be an interesting stop. There you could see The Igreja de Jesus which is a remarkable Gothic church with interior columns carved in Arrábida pink stone from the nearby quarry. In Azeitão, you will take your last included visit to a wine cellar. The cellar of “José Maria da Fonseca” will offer you a tasting of 2 different wines.

DAY 8 PALMELA - LISBON AIRPORT (approx. 97km)

After breakfast, drive to Lisbon to return your car at the airport to meet your return flight or extend your holidays.
