Mysteries of Chachapoyas

In the morning you will take your flight at the airport of Lima to the airport of Jaén. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to Chachapoyas.

Hike to the Gocta Waterfall

In the morning, you will hike along the route from Cocachimba to the beautiful Gocta Waterfall, where you will cross cane crops until you reach a cloud forest with trees covered in orchids, mushrooms and moss. Guides of the Community Association will accompany you along the way, to explain everything about the ecosystem that surrounds the place, as well as the history of your community and the waterfall, the third highest in the world. At the end of the walk, you will be transferred to your hotel in Cocachimba or Chachapoyas.

Visit the Kuelap Fortress

You will discover Kuélap, the most important archaeological site of the Northern Andes. In a guided tour, you will learn everything about this monumental fortress, which is located on the top of Cerro Barreta; its platform extends almost 600 meters and in some parts its walls reach 19 meters. You will be surprised by its imposing walls and its complex interior architecture, which includes administrative, religious, ceremonial and residence precincts, which leave in evidence the organization of its ancient inhabitants. At the end of the tour you will be transferred to your hotel.

You will leave your lodge to head to San Bartolo, on the Gocta highway. Your first stop will be at the Revash Mausoleums, a graveyard that belonged to the culture of the same name, where you can see collective graves embedded in the rocky walls of the mountain. Then, you will go to Leymebamba for lunch.

Afterwards, you will visit the Mummy Museum of Leymebamba, a site dedicated to the Chachapoyas culture. In its five rooms you can appreciate the 261 mummies and 200 funeral goods that the place houses. Finally, you will return to your hotel.

In the morning you will be transferred from your hotel in Chachapoyas to the airport of Jaén, where you will take your flight to the city of Lima.
