DAY 1 ARRIVAL IN BELFAST

Arrival in Northern Ireland. Collect your rental car and check in to your accommodation for the next two nights. Spend the afternoon exploring the city of Belfast, famous for its industrial past and turbulent history. Belfast city centre has undergone considerable expansion and regeneration in recent years, notably around Victoria Square. People visit for any number of reasons and many come back repeatedly once they realise just how much there is to offer. Whether you are into culture, eating out, tours, sporting weekends, city breaks or even just a day trip, Belfast has got it going on.

Accommodation : Belfast for 2 nights

DAY 2 BELFAST AREA

After your full breakfast, you will head south of the city to the haunting location of Tollymore Forest Park, located at the foot of the beautiful Mourne Mountains. This was featured in the very first episode of Game of Thrones and reappears in the scene where Ned Stark comes across the gored stag and dire wolf pups.
Travelling north, stop off on the banks of the River Quoile, which you will recognise from a couple of key scenes in Season 1. This is where Robb’s army needs to cross the Trident and where Catelyn and Robb learn of Ned’s beheading.
Continue on to Castle Ward (not included)– perhaps more familiar as Winterfell. Inside this walled demesne, you can explore a truly spectacular house, an exotic sunken garden and haunting woodland. This is the location where King Baratheon and his retinue arrive and are met by the Starks in Season 1. You will visit Audley’s Field at Strangford Lough, the backdrop of Robb’s Camp in Season 2 and the place he first meets Talisa.
Continue to Belfast area to your overnight accommodation.

DAY 3 LONDONDERRY AREA

This morning you will travel north along the Causeway Coast to the Cushenden Caves, which you may remember as the location where Melisandre gives birth to the shadow baby after being brought ashore by Davos Seaworthy in Season 2. The Caves were product of extreme weather conditions and were formed over a period of 400 million years. Continuing north you will arrive at Murlough Bay (not included), which becomes the Iron Islands in Season 3. This is a beautiful, remote setting with views across the sea to Rathlin Island and the Mull of Kintyre. Your day would not be complete without a visit to one of the country’s most photographed locations; The Dark Hedges. Planted by the Stuart family in the 18th Century, this spectacular avenue of beech trees line King’s Road as Ayra Stark makes her escape from the King’s Landing in Season 2.
Travel through this haunting setting before arriving at your accommodation in Londonderry.

DAY 4 LONDONDERRY AREA

Today you will start your day with a visit to one of the country’s most iconic locations. Downhill Beach is an 11km stretch of sand and surf located on the Causeway Coast. This location is home to Mussenden (not included), a tiny temple perched on a 120ft cliff, high above the Atlantic Ocean. Downhill was transformed into Dragonstone in Season 2.
Your day then takes you to Ballintoy, one of the most beautiful spots in Northern Ireland located between the famous Giant’s Causeway (not included) and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge (tickets to cross the bridge must be pre-booked online, and ticket price includes on-site car parking. Visitors not wishing to cross the bridge can park for £10 per car). This spectacular harbour location has been used as the Iron Islands; the spot where Theon Greyjoy arrives back to and where he first meets his sister Yara.
Enjoy this picturesque view before travelling back to Londonderry for your final night.
