Marbella is a paradise for golf lovers. A dozen magnificent courses allow you to practice this sport against the unique backdrop of both the sea and the mountains. The city’s old quarter, set in a beautiful bay, is an absolute delight, with typically Andalusian whitewashed houses and orange trees adorning the streets and squares. An ideal setting for sampling the succulent recipes of the local gastronomy.

ABOUT THE GOLF CLUB
Designed by the German master golf course architect Dr. Bernhard von Limburger, Atalaya’s Old Course opened in 1968. With its natural surroundings and parkland fairways, it is known today as one of Costa del Sol’s most challenging and prestigious golf venues. Von Limburger was responsible for 74 courses throughout Europe, although Atalaya is his only Spanish course. The New Course was added in 1990, to a Paul Krings design.
Unlike so many clubs in the area, Atalaya was established first and foremost as a golf club, as opposed to a real estate development. This heritage allows members and visitors alike to enjoy golf in natural surroundings, largely uncluttered by housing developments.

HANDICAPS
We apply a policy on maximum handicaps, which on the Old Course is 28 for men and 36 for ladies.
On the New Course, before 11:00AM, maximum handicaps are similarly, 28 for men and 36 for ladies; after 11:00AM, players with a Green Card or a Platzreifekarte are also allowed to play. To encourage those new to the game, beginners without a handicap are allowed to play the New Course after 4:00PM.
Please note handicap certificates are required and will be requested when registering at our golf reception desk.

While the transfer from the hotel and golf course are included in the package, we recommend renting a vehicle to explore the area at your leisure.
