There, happens the walking tour along the catwalk measuring one kilometre of easy hike. Along this easy trek, there are several gorgeous panoramic views of the Falls and at the end of the catwalk a fantastic close-up encounter with the Devils’ Throat and main falls. It is a completely different tour when compared to the Argentine side. We stroll through the narrow, bustling streets lined with buildings in pastel shades of an age gone by, soaking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant city. We visit the church of São Francisco with its exuberant gold-leafed Baroque interior and the Pelourinho square, the heart of the old town. We return to hotel by an alternative route. In the evening you will see the Bahia Folklore Company (Balé Folclórico da Bahia) is one of the most respected folklore dance troupes in the world. This is the point where two tributaries of the River Amazon, each of distinctly different hue, converge. One, the Rio Solimoes, is a light sandy colour. Its rival the Rio Negro is the darkest of the pair, owing to the leaves and dead foliage it picks up on its route down from the Andes and the two rivers visibly refusing to mix.

Then, we will visit the Indian museum, belonging to the Salesian Roman Catholic Nuns, where we can appreciate some of the culture of the local upper Rio Negro tribes. Our final destination: the Amazon Opera House, the main symbol from the golden ages of the rubber boom, inaugurated in 1896. Due to a restoration done of few years ago, it has kept all the splendour from that period. Return to Hotel.
